Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units
Opening Address of the Directors
The Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units (ISW) of the University of Stuttgart is one of the leading research centers in the field of control engineering – from planning to the tool. The ISW does interdisciplinary research in technologies for the future production and automation. For the industry we are for almost 50 years an innovative and reliably partner for ambitious challenges, from the first idea to the end product.
The ISW is member of the excellence cluster SRC SimTech and makes substantial contributions to the application of simulation as a tool in production engineering. The use of simulation technology allows in the industrial practice the fast and efficient investigation of new machines and the optimization of existing facilities.
The ISW participates with the cluster „Intelligent production facilities” in the Graduate School of Excellence advanced Manufacturing Engineering (GSaME) of the University of Stuttgart. Six PhD students are doing research at the ISW as scholarship holders of GsaME.
