Abstract
The Idea of modulating data on a power cable exists since long. With internet came the Idea of using the power net as a broadband transport media, Power Line Communication (PLC). Nevertheless, the PLC cannot be just simply applied in Machine-tools or Industry Robots. The limits concerning the interference of the media and also the requirements regarding real-time and speed still has to be taken into consideration and the transmission behavior as to be analyzed.
The Objective is to connect machine modules, Actuators, Sensors, as well as Regulation and Control, concerning power and data transfer, reducing cabling and interfacing effort. This will simplify and improve the configuration, maintenance, repair, diagnostic and setting of machines, hence the availability of Manufacturing Units on a measurable scale.
